I Thought Something Was Wrong With Me
Until one sentence made me realize it wasn’t my life… it was the words I was repeating
A Gentle Reminder About the Words We Speak
Dear Family,
Today I want to speak to you quietly.
Not as someone who has everything figured out.
Not as someone who is always strong.
But simply as Daniel.
The past few days, I haven’t felt like myself.
Nothing dramatic happened.
Nothing “bad” occurred.
I just felt… low.
Flat.
Like I was moving through my days instead of truly living inside them.
And when you live alone, something interesting happens.
The only voice you hear is your own.
There’s no one in the room to gently interrupt your thoughts.
No one to look at you and say, “That’s not true.”
It’s just you… and whatever story your mind decides to tell.
And if you’re not careful, that story can slowly turn against you.
I caught myself saying things like,
“I’m not doing enough.”
“I should be further.”
“Why do I feel like this?”
They didn’t feel dramatic when I said them.
But they felt heavy.
And when you repeat heavy words long enough, your heart begins to believe them.
That’s the part that touched me the most.
Nothing in my life had actually changed.
I’m healthy.
I’m building.
I’m growing.
I’m blessed in so many ways.
But because I was alone with my thoughts, I began interpreting everything through a quiet cloud.
Then today, my aunt Ludmila called me.
And she didn’t analyze me.
She didn’t overcomplicate anything.
She simply said,
“Daniel, you’re not depressed. Everything is beautiful.”
She said it so calmly. So confidently.
And something inside me softened.
She was right.
Nothing was wrong.
I had just been sitting alone with unchallenged thoughts.
And in that moment, I realized how powerful words truly are.
Not loud words.
Not motivational speeches.
Simple words.
Gentle words.
Words spoken with love.
The kind that remind you who you are when you momentarily forget.
It made me think about how many people don’t have that voice in their life.
How many people wake up in rooms where the language is heavy.
Where conversations are filled with doubt.
Comparison.
Complaints.
Quiet frustration.
And when everyone around you speaks that way… it starts to feel normal.
You don’t even realize your spirit is being influenced.
You begin to speak the same way.
Think the same way.
Feel the same way.
And slowly, without noticing, you drift.
Not because your life is broken.
But because your environment is not nurturing.
That realization humbled me.
Because even I — someone who talks about awareness and positivity — can slip when I isolate myself.
We are human.
We need each other.
We need voices that gently remind us:
“You are okay.”
“You are growing.”
“You are blessed.”
“You are loved.”
And we also need to become that voice for ourselves.
Not in a forced way.
Not pretending everything is perfect.
But choosing language that supports life instead of drains it.
Instead of,
“I feel stuck,”
maybe it’s,
“I’m in a season of quiet growth.”
Instead of,
“I’m behind,”
maybe it’s,
“I’m exactly where I need to be.”
The circumstances don’t change.
But the feeling does.
And that feeling shapes everything.
So today, I just want to remind you of this:
Be mindful of the words you speak over your own life.
Be mindful of the energy you allow around you.
And if you don’t currently have someone who lifts you when you forget your strength…
Let this community be that place.
That’s why the Center of Positive Energy exists.
Not because we are perfect.
But because we believe in choosing love.
Choosing light.
Choosing language that builds.
If you’ve been feeling a little “off” lately, you’re not broken.
You might just need a gentle reminder.
And I’m grateful we can remind each other.
With love and sincerity,
Daniel
